Players can choose to play at online poker rooms or they can choose to play video poker. For most people, video poker is quicker easier and less hassle than joining a poker room. While standard video poker is extremely popular, there are many variations of the same game at various online casinos. For experienced players one of the most popular video poker variants is five hand Jacks or Better. In this game players can choose to play up to five hands of poker at once on a single wager.

Before You Play

If a player does not get at least a pair of Jacks in each poker hand, they lose their bet. Because players can play up to 5 hands at once, five hand Jacks or Better video poker is ideally suited for more experienced poker players. For those who are new to five hand poker, we advise that players play a few rounds for free before putting down any money. The basic rules of Jacks or Better are based on the standard five-card draw poker game. It is important that players learn the rules of the game before deciding to play online.

How to Play

The aim of Five Hand Jacks or Better is to create the highest possible card combination using the cards you have been dealt in all 5 hands. To help you out, a computer pay-table will be displayed on the video screen, detailing the pay-out for each card combination. In Jacks or Better poker, the minimum paying hand is pair of Jacks, hence the name.  Once a player has analysed all 5 hands, they have the option to keep or discard any of their showing cards.

Multiple Hand Poker

Five Hand Jacks or Better video poker is played in much the same way as you would play a standard video poker game or online blackjack game. In this variant, each hand is played using a standard deck of 52 cards. Once a player has logged into the game, the first thing they need to do is choose how much they would like to bet. After they have chosen their wager, payers can simply click on the deal/draw button. The computer will then deal the player five cards in each hand.

After selecting which cards they wish to keep, payers can click on the deal/draw button again and the computer will replace the discarded cards with new cards. In Five Card Jacks or Better video poker, after the second draw in each hand, the computer will automatically determine If a player has a winning hand or not. Players will be paid out according to how much they bet and the winning hands achieved in accordance with the computer pay-table.
